Noble animals are a new creature type described fully in The Noble Wild: An Animal Player’s Handbook For OGL Role-Playing Games. A modified version of this type’s description, suitable for the FRIENDS OF MAN campaign, is printed below.
Noble Animal Type: A noble animal is a living, nonhuman vertebrate creature that has been elevated above normal animals with increased Intelligence, magical abilities, and culture.
Features: A noble animal has the following features (unless otherwise noted in a creature’s entry or superceded by character class).
— d8 Hit Dice.
— Base attack bonus equal to 3/4 total Hit Dice.
— Good Fortitude and Reflex saves.
— Skill points equal to (2 + Int modifier, minimum 1)
per Hit Die, with quadruple skill points for the first Hit
Traits: A noble animal possesses the following traits (unless otherwise noted in a creature’s entry).
— Low-light vision.
— Proficient with its natural weapons.
— Capable of gaining “Deeds;” supernatural abilities
awarded after specific actions.
— Noble animal spellcasters gain Eschew Materials and
Greater Eschew Materials as bonus feats.
— Noble animals eat, sleep, and breathe.
